Sports and Recreation Facilities

Wrentham Bowls Club (- off Mill Lane NR34 7JQ)

The purpose of the club is to provide an outdoor bowling green and associated facilities for the village and the surrounding area. We actively encourage bowlers of all abilities and all ages – from beginners to experienced players, from youngsters through to senior citizens – and can provide tuition and coaching, if required. Playing bowls is an excellent and enjoyable form of gentle exercise and offers a good opportunity to make new friends.

Why not come and try your hand? Come along on a Tuesday morning and join our friendly “Roll Up” session at 9.45am. (Roll up is £1.50 for members and £2.00 for non-members). Please bring a pair of flat-soled shoes, plimsolls or slippers; bowls can be borrowed. Sessions start on 6th May 2025 and run through to September. Coaching can be given for those who would like it.

Wrentham Bowls Club is currently looking for new members and would encourage anyone to come along, have a go, and hopefully join the club. The club is located in the centre of the village just off Mill Lane. We play competitively in local leagues at different levels, and of course for pleasure. This year the green opens on Sunday 27th April 2025 when our first drive of the season starts at 2.00pm (please arrive at 1.30pm).

Our membership subscription is £45 for adult members; £10 for social members and £10 for juniors (under18).

The Playing Field, London Road

News: January 2022

Congratulations to Mutford and Wrentham FC. The first team are currently top of their league:

  • Played: 12
  • Won: 11
  • Drawn: 1

News: June 2021

For the first time in the history of the Wrentham & Mutford Football Club, the team reached the final of the Suffolk Junior Cup. The final was played on Bank Holiday Monday against a team from Stowupland. Sadly, Wrentham & Mutford lost 2-1, but Stowupland are three divisions above Wrentham & Mutford and it was the last kick of the game that conceded the second goal. So well done to Wrentham & Mutford for doing so well!

They have also progressed to the semi-final of the Waveney tournament.

If anyone wishes to join the club, either as a player or assisting with maintaining the ground, etc. please contact Barrie Atkins,
